Horse Rugs & Fly Sheets
Custom horse rugs wholesale orders ship in 30–45 days from our 4,000 m² plant, with sampling at 3–5 days for logo, 7–15 days for new material and 10–15 days for ODM. Eighteen production lines run 15,000 pcs daily and 450,000 pcs monthly, making 600D and 1200D ripstop rugs from 0 g rain sheets to 400 g heavyweight, MOQ 100 pcs.
Which fill weight fits your season and market?
Our fill ladder runs 0 g to 400 g in six quoted steps: 0 g (rain sheet), 50 g, 100 g, 200 g, 300 g and 400 g (heavyweight). A 0–100 g sheet covers wet summer and mild-autumn turnout; 200 g is the volume seller for clipped horses in work through a mild winter; 300–400 g covers unclipped horses living out in hard winters. Two specs beyond fill decide the rug: a 600D or 1200D ripstop shell, and neck style — fixed, detachable or combo. Send your climate, turnout hours and whether horses are clipped, and we confirm denier, fill weight and waterproof rating per style on the spec sheet.
What size range do you cover, and how do I match a UK or US label?
Stock sizes run 5'6″ to 7'0″ in seven 3-inch steps — the labels UK and US buyers already stock. Metric back lengths are quoted per size on the size sheet that ships with every order: 5'6″ = 168 cm, 6'0″ = 183 cm, 6'6″ = 198 cm, 7'0″ = 213 cm. Pony labels down to 4'9″ are quoted as custom sizing. Rugs, neck covers and combos share one size run, so a 6'3″ neck cover matches the 6'3″ rug rather than a separate chart.
How do I specify a fly sheet that holds up to sweet itch and sun?
A fly sheet comes down to 4 specification decisions, and only 1 of them is the print: mesh construction, neck style, belly coverage and tail flap. We quote two mesh routes — interlocking soft mesh for thin-skinned, midge-sensitive horses, and heavier ripstop mesh for pasture horses that rub on fencing. Neck options are standard, combo (integrated) and detachable, using the same fastening points as the turnout rug. Belly bands, shoulder gussets and extended tail flaps are specified per style, in the same 5'6″–7'0″ size run. UV and UPF figures for our mesh: We do not publish figures for this yet.
What gets checked before the cartons are sealed?
3 checkpoints run between your deposit and your carton: incoming material inspection, in-line checks during production, and final inspection against the approved sample before packing. Fabric, filling and hardware are inspected as they arrive, not after the rug is sewn. The final check covers stitching at stress points, twin chest buckles, cross surcingles, leg straps and tail flaps against your approved sample, and every batch leaves with a photo report. For larger orders, third-party inspection can be arranged at the factory. Hydrostatic-head test values: We do not publish figures for this yet — denier, fill weight and waterproof rating are confirmed per style in writing.
How do you keep colour and fabric identical on a repeat order?
1 approved sample, held in duplicate, is the reference for every reorder. You approve the sample, its twin stays on our floor, and the spec sheet locks dimensions in cm per size, materials, gram weight, hardware, colour references, packing rate, carton size, unit weight and lead time. Once approved, nothing changes without written confirmation. Reorders repeat the same shell, filling and hardware against that reference — 600D or 1200D ripstop with stainless steel, brass or zinc alloy fittings — across seasonal programs and style extensions.
What order date do I need to hit my retail season?
Bulk production runs 30–45 days from order confirmation and deposit, so an order confirmed on 15 August ships mid-October, ahead of most northern-hemisphere autumn resets. Sampling sits ahead of that: 3–5 days for a logo sample, 7–15 days for a material change, 10–15 days for a new ODM design, subject to factory confirmation. Our plant runs 4,000 m² and 18 production lines at 15,000 pcs daily and 450,000 pcs monthly. How many lines are reserved per season: We do not publish figures for this yet. Send your in-market date and volume to WhatsApp +86 133 8657 5871 and we confirm the calendar backwards from it.
Frequently asked questions
What is the MOQ for custom horse rugs?
MOQ is 100 pcs for both OEM and ODM. OEM puts your logo, colours and packaging on an existing model; ODM builds a new model from your drawing or sample. The 100 pcs minimum applies across rugs, neck covers and combos, and it holds on reorders.
How long do samples and bulk orders take?
Logo samples take 3–5 days, material samples 7–15 days and ODM design samples 10–15 days, subject to factory confirmation. Bulk production runs 30–45 days from order confirmation and deposit. Samples ship by DHL, FedEx or UPS, prepaid or freight collect, and we hold a duplicate as the bulk reference.
Which sizes can you produce?
Stock sizes run 5'6″ to 7'0″ in seven 3-inch steps. Pony labels down to 4'9″ and outsize horses are quoted as custom sizing at the same 100 pcs MOQ. Rugs, neck covers and combos share one size run, and every order ships with a size sheet.
Do you make both turnout rugs and fly sheets?
Yes. Turnout runs from 0 g rain sheets to 400 g heavyweight in 600D and 1200D ripstop. Summer lines are mesh fly sheets with standard, combo or detachable necks, belly bands, shoulder gussets and tail flaps. Denier, fill weight and waterproof rating are confirmed per style before you order.
How do you test waterproofing and fabric quality?
Every batch passes three checkpoints: incoming material, in-line during production, and final inspection against your approved sample with a photo report. Fabric, filling and hardware are checked on arrival. We do not publish figures for this yet on hydrostatic-head test values — ask for the per-style spec you need.
What hardware and fittings do you use?
Fittings are twin chest buckles, cross surcingles, leg straps and tail flaps, specified per SKU and locked before production. Hardware is stainless steel, brass or zinc alloy, chosen per style. Buckle engagement, strap attachment and stitching at stress points are checked at in-line and final inspection.
Can you put my logo on the rugs and pack them for retail?
Yes. Embroidery, woven labels and printed labels are produced in-house; send a vector file (AI, EPS or PDF) and we confirm placement, size and sampling time, usually 3–5 days. Packing rate, carton size, unit weight and carton marks are fixed per SKU on the spec sheet before deposit.
Who makes the rugs, and can I inspect the factory?
horsemerch.com is the horse rug manufacturer behind every order — our own 4,000 m² plant, 18 production lines, 15,000 pcs daily and 450,000 pcs monthly. Factory audits and third-party inspections are booked with about 7 days' notice via WhatsApp +86 133 8657 5871.
